Revolutionising educational pedagogy in Finland
| Nuwan Dissanayaka - 01 Aug 2022

The current school education system is one that was developed many years ago and it has major drawbacks. When a system becomes highly structured, we can see that there are fewer errors within the system but something else happens to individuals inside the system. They will lose their creativity step by step. As a school teacher, I surveyed school children and I found that students gradually lose their creativity as they grow older in our education system. A student of age 10 was much more creative than a student of age 18. The latest research shows that traditional school systems face the following challenges.
• Children’s lack of exercise
• Restlessness during classes
• Poor classroom focus
• One-sided teaching methods
• Teacher workload
• Lack of a clear organizational model for implementing the curriculum
• A costly and inefficient model for future training
• Low motivation to learn (especially for boys)
• Lower exam results
• Unstructured integration of various non-textbook solutions (digital applications, etc.)
As the leading educational solution provider, Finland has come up with a pedagogical ecosystem known as LEADO. LeaDo is a unique learning ecosystem that helps teachers solve problems through a clear and controlled process and toolset. According to Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) rankings Finland has been one of the top 10 education systems in the world due to their unique way of dealing with education. LeaDo concept mainly focuses on learning by doing/phenomenal-based learning and it sets the framework for the teacher where they can easily act as the mentor for their children.
Leado concept proposes 09 major steps for the Early Childhood Education Plan and  Basic Education Plan for the year 2022.
As educators in Asia, studying such pedagogy and implementing them in Asia will help to uplift the education level in the region.  This Leado pedagogical concept got short-listed for GESS (Global Educational Supplies and Solutions) awards in both 2019 and 2020 and got selected as a finalist in this year’s global WSA - World Summit Award competition in the Learning / Education category.
