CUET – Leadership Conclave 2022: NorthCap

NorthCap University organized the ‘CUET – Leadership Conclave 2022’, to enable a comprehensive understanding of the Common University Entrance Test. A panel discussion was held, wherein eminent academicians shared their views on the various aspects of the entrance test including various aspects including syllabus, duration, preparation, cut-offs, doubts, and addressing all related concerns.
 The event commenced with a context set by the moderator of the discussion, Dr. Vikas Nath, Director, School of Management and Liberal Studies, NorthCap University Gurugram, wherein he gave a brief overview of the test. He then invited the esteemed panelists to share insights into the different nuances of CUET.
 Dr. Nupur Prakash, Vice-Chancellor, NorthCap University, Gurugram shared about how the exam will cater to the diversity of the subject offerings. Though mandatory for Central Universities across the country, she announced that as a UGC – recognized institution, NorthCap University will also accept the scores of CUET for admission in its undergraduate programs for the academic session 2022-2023. Speaking at the event, Prof Raj Nehru, Vice-Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skills University, Gurugram spoke about the compulsion to introduce CUET, and also spoke related to the cut-off system of the exam. Prof R.P. Das, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, IGNOU, Delhi & Ex Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University, Odisha addressed the dichotomy about the importance and preparation of the board exams viz CUET. Dr. R.C. Kuhad, Ex Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana spoke on how the school curriculum needs to be revised looking at the syllabus of CUET so that students can study in the senior classes themselves. He shared that the students need to balance their time in preparation for both the boards and CUET.  The board exams would not become redundant, but rather they will be like an eligibility criterion for admissions. Dr. Markanday Ahuja, Ex Vice-Chancellor, Gurugram University, shared that the main objective of CUET is to try and remove any malpractices that may be existing across the country, and also reduce the burden of class XII board exams.
